Session 57 – Shoulder Surgery, Evidence, Politics and See-saws with David Beard
The ATOCP have once again arranged a superstar guest to follow Sallie Lamb and Toby Smith in our ongoing partnership. David Beard is a shining light at the very top of the research game and not just within Physio circles. He mixes it with the medics and surgeons to lead some of the most renowned MSK and orthopaedic trials in the world. He was recently lead author on the CSAW trial – ‘Can Shoulder Arthroscopy Work?’ which was destined to be controversial, whatever the result! David is interviewed by Jack Chew who is back behind the mic after Felicity’s brilliant debut on session 56. Jack and David take a deep dive into what makes David tick, what he feels are the take home messages from his trial conclusions and perhaps most interesting, the societal roles of research evidence of this kind.
The ATOCP have pulled an absolute blinder by getting a stream at the BOA Conference 27th September in Birmingham. This is a brilliant opportunity for anyone interested in trauma and orthopaedic practice to hear a top quality CPD stream whilst networking with orthopaedic and medical colleagues. Jack will be moderating the finale debate ‘Are day case knee replacements in the patient’s best interest?’. Bound to be a belter! Sign up at: www.atocp.csp.org.uk
FINAL REMINDER to sign up for #TheBigRs conference, the website is reform.physio/conference and details of the content are in the intro to the podcast. You can now attend virtually and tune into all the livestreams by buying a ‘virtual attendance’ ticket!
